DesignLab
DesignLab was a 6-week long design course for High School boys of color that took place in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. I developed and facilitated the program through the JP Morgan Chase Fellowship Initiative program.
Students participated in 6 sessions all centered around the design process. Each week, students engaged in several short design challenges around 1 specific theme, such as Physical Game Design, Product Design, Electronics, or Space Design. The program culminated in an exhibition in which students showcased their work and structured design challenges for visitors to participate in. Through experiencing the iterative nature of the design process, students began to feel empowered to apply the design process to their own lives in order to create real changes in their own communities.
I was the lead on the project, and coordinated, designed, and managed the programs in New York, Chicago, and LA.
