Hi, I'm Shula Ehrlich! I design and produce playful learning experiences.
Nintendo Labo Classroom Program brings Nintendo Labo to classrooms nationwide.
I oversaw the design and implementation of a new and improved website for Institute of Play.
For many years, I have designed and developed playful, design-oriented trainings for adult learners in a variety of settings.
During my time at Institute of Play, I spent many years collaborating with 6th-12th teachers to design learning games for the classroom.
DesignLab was a 6-week long design course for High School boys of color in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
TeacherQuest is a professional development designed to re-imagine what teaching can be through game-like learning.
The Writer Games is an English Language Arts based game-like unit of study, or Mission, that I co-designed for an 8th grade English class at New York City public school, Quest to Learn.
These are games that I have designed for ambient play at events — from weddings, to fundraisers, to dinner parties.
Mobile Quest, which completed it’s 4th and last season in 2013, is a week long summer camp for kids going into the 6th grade that teaches basic game design.
Stx and Stones is an interactive, web-based tool kit that empowers middle school-aged children to stop bullies by using humor and comedy to express themselves.
Reflect and Connect is a context-specific mobile game for children living with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and their parents. The application balances between education and fun as you work with the main character to help him to better understand his emotions and ways to deal with those emotions within various environments and situations.
I'm a New York-based designer and educator passionate about designing learning experiences that are rooted in play and design.
I began my career in K-12 education, collaborating with teachers to design game-based learning and designing and facilitating teacher professional development. At the heart of everything I do is creating playful learning experiences that encourage learners to take risks, fail safely, learn by doing, and ultimately learn through play and discovery.
I'm currently the Senior Manager of Learning Design at Lemonade, where I'm working to get the Learning and Development team off the ground!
